1. 氣候變遷下之珊瑚礁動態
- 海洋中的熱帶雨林-珊瑚礁,在面對氣候變遷與長期的人為擾動之下,出現嚴重的全球性衰退。在這些威脅之下,珊瑚礁生態系的未來是朝向崩毀滅絕,還是會進行調適而適應這嚴苛變動的環境?研究珊瑚礁的長期動態可以幫助我們了解這個問題,並提出適當的保育與管理因應對策。
2.中光層珊瑚生態系之多樣性
- 中光層珊瑚生態系(MCEs)是指棲息在透光層的下緣,深度界於30至150公尺的珊瑚群聚。在台灣,中光層珊瑚多樣性以及這些礁區所扮演的角色仍有待發掘。在世界許多區域已證明它們可能成為淺海珊瑚面對極端氣候事件或其他人為干擾的避難所。因此,評估台灣的中光層珊瑚生態系的多樣性以及它們可以在珊瑚礁的回復力(resilience)上發揮何種功能,將提供中光層珊瑚生態系以及他們對珊瑚礁的管理和保育重要性的關鍵資訊。
