研究方向
- 保育古生物學:化石材料於海洋生態保育之應用主要以全新世沉積物內之魚類耳石為研究題材,藉由重建原始魚類群聚構造,了解魚類如何隨人為生態衝擊發生變化。除魚類外,也使用其他海洋生物遺骸如珊瑚、軟體動物、海綿等,配合生物及地球化學資料,進一步探索全新世以來海洋生態面臨之人為生態衝擊。
- 系統古生物學探討地質年代較為久遠之化石材料,除回應基本分類學的問題外,試圖詮釋其古生態學、古生物地理學和演化方面等意涵。
目前進行中的研究項目:
- 西太平洋地區(日本、臺灣、婆羅洲等)新近紀魚類多樣性、族群結構及群落變遷
- 加勒比海珊瑚礁魚類群聚構造之變遷
