Marine Ecology, Larval Biology, Coral reef symbiosis, Barnacle biology and taxonomy

I am interested in factors affecting the distribution and abundance of organisms in marine ecosystems, especially using the marine organism, barnacle as a studying species. Barnacles are everywhere in the marine environment ranging from the intertidal, shallow water, coral reefs, deep-sea hydrothermal vents and also being epibiotic on marine animals including whales and sea turtles. My recent research are focusing on

1. Diversity of barnacles in the world’s oceans,
2. Coral and sponge associated invertebrates,
3. Larval biology of barnacles and
4. Effect of microplastics on zooplankton biology.

I teach an undergraduate/postgraduate course “Intertidal Ecology, a Field Work Approach”. In this course, I often bring students to the natural coastline to feel and study the real biodiversity there.
