The ocean is alive with the calls of marine creatures—courtship songs, hunting signals, and communication rhythms. These sounds are key indicators of ocean ecosystem health. At the Marine Ecoacoustics and Informatics Lab, led by Dr. Tzu-Hao Lin at Academia Sinica’s Biodiversity Research Center, we aim to leverage large-scale spatiotemporal acoustic datasets and AI technologies to reveal trends in marine biodiversity and provide scientific tools for conservation management strategies.

Would you love to join us on field expeditions across Taiwan’s coral reefs, islands, and coastal waters—exploring by boat, snorkeling, diving, or kayaking?
We are currently seeking two researchers for a new AI project. If you meet the following criteria, we’d love to hear from you!
Positions Available:
Research Assistant (Bachelor’s or Master’s Level)
Bachelor’s Salary: NTD 37,240+
Master’s Salary: NTD 43,624+
Postdoctoral Researcher
Starting Salary: NTD 62,776+
Candidates with certifications or experience in AI or data science can negotiate salaries during the interview.
Benefits: Health and labor insurance, year-end bonuses, annual salary adjustments (following Academia Sinica regulations), weekends off, national holidays, annual leave, and compensatory leave per Taiwan labor laws.
Job Responsibilities:
Apply deep learning techniques to analyze audio-visual data and publish impactful research findings.
Assist in marine field surveys, data collection, and analysis.
Support research and administrative tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator.
Work Hours & Location:
Flexible hours: Standard hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break.
Contract Period: Contral renewal depends on performance and funding availability
Work Locations: Academia Sinica Biodiversity Research Center (Greenhouse Building) and various field survey sites in Taiwan and abroad.
Qualifications:
Proficient in Python, R, or MATLAB programming. Experience in AI or data science is a plus.
Detail-oriented, responsible, and an excellent team player. Must be willing to travel for fieldwork.
Bonus Qualifications:
1. Experience with GitHub projects or collaborative AI tool development.
2. Valid motorcycle or car driver’s license; comfortable with boat trips, sun exposure, and the ocean environment.
3. Internationally recognized scuba diving certification (please detail your diving experience) or other aquatic activity licenses.
